Additional information
Last year I reported the increase in value of retirement accounts as income based on my mistaken understanding that the increase in value of these accounts constituted non-taxable, unrealized capital gain income. Having reviewed the instructions and speaking with someone at the Secretary of State's office, I did not report the increase in the retirement accounts this year because I now understand that the increase is not capital gain income and that when I (or my husband) start taking distributions from those accounts, those amounts will be reported as regular income (not capital gain income). I have also not listed the term live insurance policies held by my husband with me as the beneficiary and by me with my husband as the beneficiary because there is no current actual value. Therefore, the change in my reported income/assets is not due to any actual change in my circumstances but due to my misunderstanding the reporting requirements. I have reported all of the retirement accounts as assets.
